Semarang, September 3, 2026 — The D4 Applied Foreign Languages Study Program at the Vocational School, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), held a class on Japanese cultural architecture presented by Adriana sensei from Akashi College. The session forms part of the program’s ongoing effort to broaden students’ understanding of Japanese culture and industry, aligning with its academic focus on applied foreign languages, including Japanese.
During the class, Adriana sensei presented material titled “Tea Architecture,” exploring the close relationship between traditional Japanese architecture and the culture of tea ceremony (chanoyu). The material was delivered through a manga-style visual narrative, featuring illustrations of tea rooms, torii gates, and other distinctive elements of Japanese architecture, making the cultural context more vivid and accessible for students.
The class was conducted interactively in a group discussion format, with students divided into small groups to explore and discuss the material further. This approach encouraged active student participation and deepened their understanding through collaboration and the exchange of ideas among groups.
Such activities are expected to broaden the perspective of D4 Applied Foreign Languages students on the connections between language, culture, and industry, particularly Japanese tourism and hospitality, as part of their professional competency development.
