About Program Study
Applied Foreign Language
The Applied Foreign Languages Study Program at the Vocational College of Diponegoro University focuses on developing foreign language skills for professional needs, industry, business, global communication, and cross-cultural interaction.
In today’s globalized world, the ability to communicate in foreign languages is highly sought after across various sectors, including international trade, tourism, education, technology, and professional services. Therefore, the Applied Foreign Languages program is here to produce graduates who not only master foreign languages but are also ready to apply them professionally in the workplace.
Through a practice-based curriculum, communicative learning, applied projects, and collaborations with international and industry partners, students gain expertise in international business communication, translation, interpretation, global customer service, cross-cultural communication, and multilingual information management. These professional skills directly support global career mobility.
As part of Vocational Excellence, the program integrates academic learning with professional experience through the Vocational College’s Integrated Teaching Factory Ecosystem.
Students gain hands-on experience through the Vocational Language Center (VLC), a Teaching Factory that serves as a hub for language training, competency certification, translation, language services, and international communication development. Through the VLC, students build their foreign language skills while gaining real-world experience tailored to industry needs.
The Applied Foreign Languages program also actively supports the Vocational College’s internationalization goals through academic collaborations, cultural exchanges, international internships, and activities that expand students’ global networks.
Beyond language mastery, the program places a strong focus on Global Employability. Students are encouraged to develop professional communication, cross-cultural adaptability, digital literacy, and the 21st-century skills essential for an international work environment.
With these strengths, graduates enjoy wide career opportunities as international communication professionals, translators, interpreters, international relations staff, global customer service specialists, international cooperation coordinators, tourism professionals, and various other roles that require language expertise and cross-cultural communication.
As a part of the UNDIP Vocational Excellence Ecosystem 2030, the Applied Foreign Languages Study Program is fully committed to producing competent, professional, adaptive, and globally minded graduates who support international communication, collaboration, and mobility.
Driven by the spirit of “From Vocational Excellence to Global Recognition,” the program continues to support the Vocational College’s vision of becoming a World-Class Vocational College by 2030, preparing a generation of professionals capable of connecting Indonesia to the world through language, communication, and cross-cultural understanding.
