The Vocational College of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) continues to strengthen its commitment to enhancing students’ global competencies through various international collaborations with overseas industry partners. One form of this collaboration is an international internship program at Laguna Redang Island Resort in Terengganu, Malaysia, which provides students with opportunities to gain professional work experience in an internationally standardized hospitality industry environment.
Through the partnership established between the Vocational College of UNDIP and Laguna Redang Island Resort, four students from the Applied Foreign Languages Study Program were selected to participate in the international internship program, which has been running since May 2026. This program is designed to provide hands-on work experience while also strengthening students’ academic and professional competencies in line with the demands of the global industry.
Prior to departure, the participants underwent a selection process conducted in collaboration with Laguna Redang Island Resort. After being accepted, the students completed various administrative and technical preparations before departing for Malaysia on May 7, 2026.
In its implementation, the students were assigned to several operational departments within the resort. Firda Shafira Yuni undertook an internship as a trainee in the Front Office Department, while Jamie Rayyan Athaya, Dimas Ananta Tarigan, and Bernardus Desta Sabda Putra were placed in the Food & Beverage (F&B) Department. These placements allowed the students to be directly involved in resort operations while learning the service standards applied in the international hospitality industry.
This internship program not only provides opportunities for students to develop technical skills and communication abilities in a multicultural environment, but also serves as a platform to understand international workplace culture and build cross-border professional networks. The experience is expected to enhance graduates’ readiness to compete in the global job market.

The students’ participation in this program is also supported by funding from the World Class University (WCU) Student Go International (SGI) Program. This support is part of Diponegoro University’s efforts to promote the internationalization of vocational education and expand students’ access to learning and work experiences at the global level. Through collaboration with various global industry partners, the Vocational School of UNDIP continues to open opportunities for students to develop their competencies, broaden their perspectives, and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
